Treasures safely guarded in the National Archives

Krakow, Poland

One of Europe’s most modern buildings is secured with electronic locking technology from Winkhaus. The National Archive in Krakow offers 14,000 square metres of vast exhibition spaces, conservation and digitalisation workshops, a book binder and a multimedia reading room. Those interested in history have access to stocks that fill 70 kilometres of shelf space.
The locking system is managed centrally using Winkhaus blueControl Professional software. It consists of 138 door cylinders, 105 passive and active keys and a reader with touch keypad. Together, they form a virtual network that offers reliable protection for the valuable collection in order to preserve it for future generations.

Architects Arkona Sp. z o.o came up with the design for the impressive building. The Polish general contractor Skanska SA has implemented it. State-of-the-art technology ensures a high level of energy efficiency. Special wall structures, sustainable heating and cooling systems that run on geothermal energy, our smart access management and photovoltaics on the roof allow independent building operation. "Knowing one of Poland's largest archives is secured with blueSmart is something that makes us very pleased and proud," says Krzysztof Ratajczak, Director of Sales at Winkhaus Polska."This is an outstanding reference for us."
