The Hamm zoo recently modernised its security infrastructure in a comprehensive manner. In order to meet the increased requirements for security and convenience, the zoo opted for the blueSmart electronic locking system from Winkhaus, which is specially tailored to the needs of a zoo.
After a careful selection phase in which different systems were compared, blueSmart was chosen. This tailor-made solution provides the zoo with the necessary flexibility to individually define access authorisations and quickly adapt them if necessary.

Special attention has been paid to the protection of sensitive areas such as the tiger enclosure, which may only be entered by authorised persons. The high requirements for locking technology in areas with special climatic conditions, such as the lemur house with its high humidity, were also met by the robust version of the blueSmart cylinders. In addition, knobless locking cylinders were used to ensure that animals such as monkeys do not have access to the locking mechanisms.
Replacing the old mechanical locking system with a modern electronic system is an important step towards greater security and convenience for employees and visitors to the zoo.
With the blueSmart system, the Hamm zoo has not only introduced a modern access control system, but also a future-proof technology meeting the special requirements of a zoo.
