Multi-generation locking system in municipal buildings, Isernhagen

Success through constant innovation – this is also the motto of the municipality of Isernhagen north-east of Hanover. The 25,000-inhabitant municipality administrates around 86 properties, including schools, kindergartens, meeting places, sports halls and fire engine houses. For more than 25 years, Isernhagen has relied on Winkhaus security technology, in particular electronic locking systems that keep up with growing requirements. And they were already high back then: Installation had to be possible easily and without structural changes, even in existing buildings. And a lost key was not to result in an expensive replacement of the cylinder. The system also had to offer time recording and flexible access control.

After careful market research, the municipality of Isernhagen decided on the Winkhaus blueChip electronic locking system in 2003. A flexible and reliable system that quickly established itself as the standard for all municipal buildings. In 2018, the municipality switched to the successor technology Winkhaus blueSmart as part of the construction of a modern school campus. Both systems can be controlled with the same software by means of a corresponding configuration and are therefore compatible with regard to locking system administration. This allows all properties to be managed centrally and efficiently. The technology also enables barrier-free access, for example, as the doors can also be opened contactlessly. Different user profiles can be programmed on the keys. Lighting and heating controls are partly linked to the system to enable efficient energy management. The flush fit of the cylinders reduces the risk of injury caused by protruding knobs. At the same time, the attack surface for deliberate or accidental damage is minimised.
The municipality of Isernhagen makes it clear that access control is a central element in the everyday life of all its properties. It is therefore important to invest in future-proof and flexible security solutions. Thanks to continuous further development and adaptation to current needs, Winkhaus locking systems remain a reliable component of the municipal building management in Isernhagen.
